Celebrate your discipline
We all know how sticking to a plan sometimes involves giving up some things to get what we want or need.
Like giving up the late night TV bingewatch in exchange for more energy the next day.
Or resisting that dopamine rush from an unplanned purchase in exchange for extra money in the pocket later for a rainy day or investment.
Or putting off a difficult conversation once again, rather than getting one step closer to the peace, harmony and compromise that having it now could bring.
These are actions we know will get us the results we seek. But, somehow, we manage to justify not acting.
All things to do with upholding promises you made to yourself require your zeal, will & momentum.

At Attagrata, we've put it down to these little nutters called the Lack Of Disciplines - they are real nuts to crack!
There's Anti-internia, Restraint, Resistance and Anti-Commitment (ARRA)
“Anti-Inertia” is that slog that whispers in your ear "let's get to it later". Suddenly, you just cannot kick yourself into gear.
Restraint” is stringy like an elastic band... stronger than you think, holding you back. Stopping you from getting to what you know you should be doing right now, exercising your discipline, putting in work. Ever reflected on how much time you time spend on social media? That's restraint at work, holding you back.
Then “Resistance” locks in the first two like a big brother. When you start actively resisting your own progress, sticking to a bad habit, you become a real advocate for your own bad habit. “Resistance”comes up with lines like "it doesn't matter after-all" or "one more time won't hurt". Except, you know it does matter and you shouldn't listen to Resistance.
“Anti-commitment” is the one that breaks your streak. When you've going strong for fifteen, twenty days. You been committed to a wonderful journey of sport, dieting, saving money, reading, quitting.... then this bugger rears it's head tugging you to break back out of your newfound good habit, back to what you do not want to know about.
It's a constant tug of war with these four! But we want to suggest an alternative perspective - one of celebration.
Celebrating your discipline. Giving yourself that pat on the back, the moment you do win that internal fight. When you do muster up the energy to beat down any one of those lacks of disciplines above, celebrate. Celebrate resisting their pesky little voices and just doing it; whatever needed commitment from you. Celebrate ignoring and pushing past. Celebrate halting when you needed to stop, moving where you did need to move, acting when you did need to act.
Shop our Stop Doubting collection and remind yourself to celebrate your discipline. Each time you succeed at getting yourself to do what you need to do, celebrate. Celebrate your wins against your lack of disciplines (LoDs) no matter how small.
